ALC Program Descriptions

aLc Housing Program

The Housing Program provides affordable housing options to independent adults ages 55 years and older that meet income and rental requirements.  Housing options include; shared and private housing.  Transitional housing communities are shared housing communities with keylock private rooms.  Residents may occupy a private room in a shared housing community for up to 5 years. Residents will have the option to extend their stay upon written request and evaluation from the Board of Directors. Private housing communities do not have a time limit on occupancy. 

ALC & Center for Elders Independence (CEI) has formed a partnership which offers housing and the PACE program.  This program is offered at selected ALC housing communities.

Case Management

Case Managers provide housing counseling sessions which include educational materials and information resources regarding; money & budgeting, affordable housing selections and renter’s assistance in Alameda & Contra Costa Counties, credit repair, fair housing information, local community resources, household maintenance tips and other related resources to assist the individual to obtain and maintain adequate affordable housing.  ALC is also a partnering agency with SOS (Season of Sharing) and provide this program to the general public.  In addition to these services, Case Managers also perform wellness checks, conduct house meetings and provide mediation services. 

 

Health & Wellness Program

The health and wellness program is hosted year round.  A series of classes and workshops to include; nutrition, exercise, mental health, social health and other related topics and movements.  Low income adults ages 55 and older are encouraged to participate in the program.  Local merchants and businesses donate healthy foods, services and discounts to participants. Local health related agencies participate through collaboration and provide participants with valuable health related materials and resources.

 

 

ALC Dial-A-Ride Program

The Dial-A-Ride program is offered to ALC members and Service Coordinators of local elder housing communities and/or senior related service providers.  Participants must meet age and income guidelines to reserve a ride and/or participate in group event trips.  Local trips include; shopping, office appointments, health & wellness classes and banking. Special group trips can be reserved by appointment only.

 

 

In-Home Support Services
 (Sub-Contracted Services)

In-home support services are exclusive to ALC’s residents.  Residents have the option to request assistance to; prepare light meals, companionship, laundry and room housekeeping.  There is a minimum hourly fee charged to residents who use this service.
