ABOUT THE FOUNDER - Detra L. Lelaind, President
Detra L. Lelaind, President, Executive Director, has owned and managed successful small businesses since 1990. With over 19 years of experience managing housing communities, Ms. Lelaind began her career in real estate by obtaining a real estate sales license and worked as a Real Estate Agent for Century 21 in the early 90’s. Later, hired as a Property Manager, Ms. Lelaind worked for companies such as; Acorn Housing Corporation, A.F. Evans, Contra Costa County Housing Authority and Insignia Financial Corporation (Now AIMCO). She has managed a portfolio of over 1000 units of conventional and affordable housing communities. She holds a HUD Certified Occupancy Specialist Certification, Certified Community Association Manager as well as a Certified Tax Credit Property Compliance Certificate. She was honored by the California State Assembly in 2001 with a Certificate of Recognition, in honor of, “Your Exemplary Commitment to Helping Seniors and Low-Income Individuals and Families Through Your Efforts to Provide Affordable Housing and Job Training”. In 2007, Ms. Lelaind received a" Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition of Outstanding and Invaluable Service to the Community." presented by Member of Congress, Nancy Pelosi and a Community Activist Award from the State of California Senate.
Lori Carter, Vice President, Marketing & Advertising, is the Chief Executive Officer of Vesper Wave Solutions, LLC., a technology and staffing woman-owned firm. Ms. Carter has been instrumental in assembling world-class engineering, intelligence and business operations teams to staff mission critical programs in the defense, intelligence, and commercial sectors for over 15 years. Ms. Carter has earned Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Central Washington University, and she is currently pursuing her Master in Business Administration from Marymount University. In addition to her entrepreneurial and professional roles, Ms. Carter volunteers her time to mentoring young adults and small business owners. Ms. Carter has served as an executive director to the Wall Street Wizards, an urban youth financial literacy program. Currently, she is facilitating small business workshops and mentoring several small business owners. Additionally, Ms. Carter performs with a local theatre group and volunteers as a citizen scientist who educate the public about Virginia’s natural resources.
Gregg Harris - Treasurer, Operations Director, has over 20 years experience in customer service and property maintenance. Gregg has supervised and assisted property management companies to establish strong operational procedures and establish internal control measures to allow upper management to best access property needs. His professional background in real estate began in the early 90’s working for Prudential Realty Company managing and supervising the rental office and maintenance staff. Some of his duties includes; supervision of move-ins, move-outs, and annual inspections. Promptly prepare vacant units for re-occupancy, assist in maintaining inventory control of all maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies.
Clarence Kemper, - Secretary, Senior Case Manager, brings a wealth of professional experience to the team. Mr. Kemper, a service member of the United States Air Force from 1960 – 1968, with a honorable discharge, worked for United Airlines as an Airplane Mechanic for 15 years. Retired, Mr. Kemper joined the Veteran Administration Hospital in Menlo Park, California as a Rehabilitation Technician in 1992 and still today manages a case load of up to eight patients. Some of Mr. Kemper duties consist of; facilitate focus groups for inpatient drug and alcohol patients in a detoxification ward. Provide educational presentation on 12 step recovery programs, assist patients with discharge planning, evaluates individual and family needs after treatment. Refer patients appropriately according to their living, medical and social needs. Although Mr. Kemper has extensive experience in building relationships through education and training, he also manages a 168 unit, market rate apartment building, located in Mountain View, California. Mr. Kemper has supervised and managed this apartment building for over 10 years and has demonstrated the ability to successful maintain an occupancy of 97% during this economic down climb.

PATRICIA GOMILLIA - over 25 years of expertise representing the Real Estate, Consumer Products and Corporate Healthcare Insurance Industries. With an emphasis on Sales, Marketing, Public Relations and Client Management, she has an extensive and successful background working in diverse business environments representing businesses and organizations throughout the U.S. and Europe. She recently received The National Association of Realtors, SRES designation as a Senior Real Estate Specialist. Patricia has always been passionate about helping others, especially seniors and children. She has made a lifelong commitment to volunteering and public service, and is committed to supporting and giving to non-profit community organizations. Patricia has worked both professionally and as a volunteer with a wide variety of organizations such as: The NAACP, The Boys and Girls Clubs, The United Negro College Fund, Meals on Wheels, The City of Alameda Food Bank, Rotary, Avalon Senior Village, Oakland Cares Mentoring Program, Alameda Assn. of Realtors, Political Campaigns and Arts & Cultural groups.
BOBBIE BOND - a veteran for San Francisco Unified School District for 28 years and retired in 1997. Bobbie was appointed to the Mayor’s Commission on Aging in 2001 and was termed out in 2008. As Commissioner, she also served as an outreach coordinator for BACS Shuttle that provided services to 23 Senior Buildings in Oakland. Bobbie was also awarded the California Senior Leadership Award. Bpbbie continues to work for small non- profit organizations in Alameda County. Bobbie is an avocate to kept seniors in their homes by giving them services they needed.
LINDA GRAVELY -a Bay Area native with roots in San Francisco and Oakland, California. Linda has an Associate Degree in Social and Behavior Science from Merritt College. She has served the senior community for over fifteen years in numerous capacities. She worked for Summit Adult Day Care as an Assistant Activities Coordinator. She is currently employed by Bay Area Community Services (BACS) where she helps transport independent living seniors to local shopping destinations. Linda is an active member in her community, who can often be found volunteering her time at local senior centers and animal shelters. She volunteers in her community walking with senior neighbors, passing out food bags, and serving hot meals. Linda co-founded The King’s Daughters a program that mentors teenage girls and teaches them life skills. She is an advocate for animals’ rights. She volunteers for Fix Our Feral a clinic for cats where she traps feral cats to be spayed and neutered.
